Following current HSE guidance (HSG264), we carry out two types of surveys: Management Surveys for buildings in normal use and Refurbishment and Demolition Surveys where there are plans for work to be carried out.

A management survey involves looking at every normally accessible area of the building where asbestos may have been used. We take samples for laboratory analysis to confirm where asbestos is present and then develop your asbestos register. We assess how likely it is that asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) might be disturbed and become an active health hazard during normal use and maintenance of the building.

Using the survey and risk assessment, we will draw up your Asbestos Management Plan, which needs to be a dynamic document, regularly monitored and refreshed.

A refurbishment or demolition survey uses destructive inspection to explore every nook and cranny so that all asbestos containing materials are identified. The survey will be used to inform the construction tendering process so that where necessary asbestos can be safely removed by specialists before building work starts.
